Mavens Overview
Gordie Brown's show is reminiscent of the late Danny Gan's show at the Mirage, in that he is a impressionist that specializes in imitating Famous Singers, with a comedic overlay.
Gordie Brown started his career as a political cartoonist with the Ottawa Sunday Herald. Gordie went from the Ottawa Herald to performing as the opening act for Paul Anka. Gordie than found his way to Las Vegas, performing as a specialty act in a Variety Magic show. He then moved to Reno to headline a one man show at Harrah's. Brown moved back to Vegas in 1996 to do a show at the Stratosphere.
Gordie's Show includes an ensemble of seven musicians and backup singers. His impressions range from the expected, like Elvis and Tom Jones, to the more unusual, like Ozzy Osbourne and Barenaked Ladies.
Gordie Brown's show has received mixed internet buzz. Many feel that for the price of admission, which is much less than the big shows on the Strip, the show is pleasant entertainment.
Internet Buzz
For the price this show is worth it though. I loved his band, they were really good and sounded tight.
Great Impressionist, Great Singer & Really Funny Guy = Gordie Brown
Not only does he perform dead-on impressions, Gordie Brown makes the audience laugh with his hilarious song parodies and onstage antics
This is the worst performer I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. He STINKS! Not funny, not talented. It was the most miserable 45 minutes I'd ever spent. To include a divorce, a motorcycle accident and a root canal.
I got the chance to see him at the Golden Nugget last night and laughed from the beginning until the end. He has a whole band and they perform hit songs that he makes fun of ( kinda Weird Al'ish). He impersonates everyone from Eminem to Jimmy Stewart so all age ranges can appreciate him.
If you loved Danny Gans, you will love this guy. They are both just as talented.
I had never heard of this guy Gordie Brown before, but we wanted to see a comedy show while we were in Vegas and it was very reasonably priced at the Tix4Tonight booth, so what the heck! This was a great show, I laughed a lot and it was definitely worth seeing.
